Site was south facing and measured 1500 Sqft. The requirement was a 2 bedroom house with apposite natural light and ventilation with total privacy within 1200 sqft. built up area. The planning is straight forward, with a single bedroom and common restroom on the ground floor which is entirely hidden from living / kitchen cum dining space connected by a passage lengthwise along with the courtyard .Our proposal started with abutting the building to the east and creating a courtyard within the house, and on the south road face an angular wall to cut down on the radiation coming inside the living / the verandah. Corner window on the angular wall in the living room swells the inside to the outside creating a connection to the landscape outside. The courtyard with an interesting yet simple roofing CNC detail creates play of light-shadow with privacy and cuts down heat inside the house. The courtyard is visually connected to the living, dining and kitchen and physically connected by the brick tiled wall which renders the interior earthily. Natural stones like polished Kota for flooring and leather finish granite for steps are used to complement the unsophisticated theme of the house. The first floor has the master bedroom and the open terrace facing the road.
